For each product, there are multiple construction methods and multiple sources for supplies. To save money and still meet project requirements, a shop can substitute lighter guage steel for frames and substitute discontinued colors or styles instead of first run fabrics. This does not mean they are producing a defective product, but it makes it difficult to compare quotations. Be sure that you ask for construction methods, frame specifications, finishing techniques and fabric specifications along with your price quotation.
Yes. There are several types of thread available, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Threads that don't weep usually contain cotton, which doesn't last very long in an outdoor environment. The stronger, longer lasting threads are not built cotton so they tend to weep until the sew holes become filled with small particles of dirt and debris which collect with each rainstorm. To speed up the filling process, you can rub beeswax over the thread holes to stop the weeping.
